The Time Traveler's Wife
Well, yesterday seing the daily news on Twitter, as usual, I got this movie review by UOL Cinema [a popular web portal in Brazil]. Every friday I glance at the premiéres to find out if there is something that interests me, even though I am a movie buff denatured ...
I saw the story about "The Time Traveler's Wife" [note: POOR name in Portuguese- "I Will Love You Forever". It's almost an insult to the viewer to be treated as part of a public that only knows how to pick movies by name, or books by the cover]. Apart from the infamous name, saw the photos and read the review about the movie. I never give a damn about criticism, because critics are failed filmmakers / wannabes. As I read I learn more about the film and the plot, because that's how I choose a movie to go to the movies. Since I really like subjects like time travels [is always something interesting] and also the cast was something really good -Rachel McAdams, which dispenses praise and also a bit of curiosity to see if Eric Bana is a really good actor, I went to the movies. I endured very patient over an hour waiting for the film session. The public was good, almost crowded room, an SOB behind me kicking my chair and with his nextel on -which by the way, rang at the end of the movie... Anyway, back to the movie -which my friend Karen seems to have hated- I'll say what I think about it ... I spent the whole movie trying to decipher and anticipate the 'puzzle' proposed, after all, when talking about time travel, the subject 'change the past / future' is always there, pardon the pun ... I got, think, successfully knowing what would happen and what was -REALLY-happening. The funny thing was to hear comments [specially from the sob behind me] wondering what was happening there and I understanding very well the film. The first part is devoted to the novel- the ROMANCE I mean, cause I havent' read the book- and the second to the 'drama' about the story. Worked well-run, avoided the cliches, a good movie for all ages [something that the infamous name in Portuguese can spoil]. Anyway, I love watching movies with themes to digest, decipher things to discuss after seeing it, and I think that is what I will do now ...Just to add something I forgot on the Portuguese post: Eric Bana, now, really convinced me. Or maybe -maybe- its Rachel that captivated him. I wouldn't doubt it...
A Esposa do Viajante do Tempo [seria bom se assim fosse]
Bem, ontem ao ver as notícias do dia no twitter, o normal de sempre, recebo as estréias da semana pelo UOL Cinema. Toda 6a feira eu olho pra ver se há algo que me interesse, ainda que eu seja um cinéfilo desnaturado...
E vi a matéria sobre "Te Amarei Para Sempre" [nota: PÉSSIMO nome em Português. Chega a ser uma ofensa para com o expectador ser tratado como parte de um público burro que só sabe escolher filmes pelo nome, ou livros pela capa].
Aparte do nome infame, vi as fotos e li a resenha sobre o filme. Eu nunca dou a mínima para críticas, pois críticos são cineastas fracassados/wannabes. As leio para saber mais sobre o filme e o enredo, porque é assim que eu escolho um filme para ir no Cinema. Li, achei interessante o tema sobre viagens no tempo [sempre me é interessante algo assim], além disso tinha no elenco Rachel McAdams, que dispensa elogios, e também um pingo de curiosidade para averiguar se Eric Bana é realmente um bom ator.
Aguentei muito paciente mais de uma hora de espera pela sessão do filme. Um público até muito bom, sala quase lotada, um fdp atrás de mim chutando a minha cadeira e com o nextel ligado, que justamente no fim, apitou... Bom, voltando ao filme, já que minha amiga Karen parece ter detestado eu digo o que achei...
Passei o filme todo tentando decifrar e antecipar os 'quebra-cabeças' propostos, afinal, quando se fala de viagens no tempo, o assunto 'mudar o passado/futuro' é sempre presente, com o perdão do trocadilho...
Consegui, penso eu, com sucesso saber o que ia acontecer e o que estava -de fato- acontecendo. Engraçado era ouvir comentários [principalmente do fdp atrás de mim] se perguntando o que estava acontecendo, e eu lá entendendo muito bem o filme.
A primeira parte é mais dedicada ao romance, a segunda ao drama. Achei bem conduzido, evitou os clichês, um bom filme para todas as idades [algo que o infame nome em português pode estragar]. Enfim, adoro ver filmes com temas para digerir, coisas a se decifrar, discutir após vê-lo, e acho que é isso que farei agora...
Àqueles que gostam de romance ou drama, eu recomendo. É muito bom.
